I think the reason why this forum works so well, is that we just dont allow "trolls" to infiltrate, gain a foothold then start to insult other members, its pretty easy to Id these people from the start, just by their attitude. I dont think theres even been an incident on here that has lasted any longer than a few minutes with these types of forum trolls before they are monitered and removed. Plus the rules are strictly adhered to but if you notice they are not rammed down peoples throats, a gentle reminder of the expected behaviour on here is all that is needed. Plus the "Risk of closure" feature is a great idea, and I think thats only been used a couple of times and then removed once everything is back on track. The way a forum gains popularity starts from the top and I think everyone will agree that the Admin staff are more than approachable and friendly. Theres never been an argument on here as far as I can see, nor a heated discussion, friendly debate ,yes, and thats the way it will remain. Let all the other forums deal with all the cockwombles and so called "experts" who have proved to be nothing more than trouble makers. We all learn from each other, no-one can say they know it all, because everyday someone learns something new, thats how a forum stays alive and gains in strength.4 points

I signed up for the MCN FB page, as I was researching my uncles time in the RAF during WW2, and have always had a great interest in all things military, even as a kid......( never served tho ) and hoped I'd learn a thing or two about the RAF during WW2......and then sort of stumbled onto the MCN website via the FB page.....I didn't really know what to expect, and was a tad anxious, as I thought it was going to be full of experts full of their own importance.....Not a thing of it, it's full of experts yes, BUT, what a cracking bunch....and, since joining 3 months ago , I've been infected.....I'm now a collector!!!!! Nothing fancy, but, it's started...:) The "Field Trip " we had to East Fortune, was one of the best days out at a museum I've had in many a year...and I've been to a few....even on our honeymoon...LOL.....and as @Ham & Jam has already said, I think I've made some great new friends....:) @Lenny and @Bil4338 included..:) ....plus many more I've not yet met, but who have been gracious enough to give up their time and depart their knowledge to me a complete newbie, asking typical newbie questions..:) I honestly cannot remember joining such a happy/friendly place, where the folks are all just interested in their "hobby" or "obsession" call it what you will, and not fighting, and back stabbing...:) Keep up the good work guys, it's working for me...:) BTW, As a wee aside, i spend more time here than on the FB page...:) Just need to get an MCN website app setup now for Android, .so I can spend my 45 min break on it......there isn't one is their...??2 points

A crowded city at a busy bus stop, a beautiful young woman wearing a tight leather skirt was waiting for a bus. As the bus stopped and it was her turn to get on, she became aware that her skirt was too tight to allow her leg to come up to the height of the first step of the bus. Slightly embarrassed and with a quick smile to the bus driver, she reached behind her to unzip her skirt a little, thinking that this would give her enough slack to raise her leg. She tried to again take the step, only to discover that she couldn’t. So, a little more embarrassed, she once again reached behind her to unzip her skirt a little more, and for the second time attempted the step. Once again, much to her embarrassment she could not raise her leg. With a little smile to the driver, she again reached behind to unzip a little more and again was unable to take the step. About this time, a large guy who was standing behind her picked her up easily by the waist and placed her gently on the step of the bus. She went ballistic and turned to the would-be Samaritan and screeched, "How dare you touch my body! I don’t even know who you are!" The guy smiled and drawled, "Well, ma’am, normally I would agree with you, but after you unzipped my fly three times, I kind’a figured we were friends."2 points

Yep. And as proof............... I said to the wife the other day, 'Why don't you tell me anymore when you have an orgasm?' She replied 'Because you told me you don't like being disturbed at work' Ba dum dum TISH2 points

Many guys who are members over at Facewok are also members of other fora like the Jobbyhouse, aka Merdmacht Awol and the other one led/sponsored by grave robbers that goes by the name of Warrelics! They wouldn't find themselves at home here because being members of two Yakuzafia "Families" they wouldn' be free to express themselves like they do there and get banned in 0,87sec FLAT!Further, they look upon other fora with a smaller number of members because they ythink that theirs is "Da Bigga and Mo' BETTA!" without taking into consideration that Rome wasn't built in a Day and that the sheer number of members can be brought to galactical numbrers in no time! Yet...they post their stuff there and ask for a "Ay" or a "Nae" () never to be seen again!Me...I seldom if ever comment! If you want to read what I think about your M46 Secret Wehrmacht Helmet join the MCN and post ih there! Soapbox kick'd aside! Cheers Manu2 points

Woman walks into a doctors surgery. 'What can I do for you today?' asks the doctor. 'You need to look at this' says the woman, swiftly removing her skirt to reveal a piece of lettuce poking up above her knickers 'God gracious!' Says the doctor. 'That doesn't look too good!' 'Pffffff' says the woman 'THAT'S just the tip of the iceburg'. ............. Ba dum dum TISH!1 point

Guys , I,ve got to tell you what this very minute happened, I was on the forum when I heard a very low drone of engines, now I,m used to seeing all sorts fly overhead and sometimes pretty low but this one was one of the best. As it got closer I looked out into the garden and there coming straight for me was a white Catalina flying boat, all marked up with American decals, and it was low and its absolutely pi**ing it down here, I watched it as long as I could, but the thing was that it looked as if it was flying so slow. What a sight to see on a Wednesday dreary day, I,m hoping it will follow the same path back, as I think its the one from Duxford1 point

Question: Why are hurricanes sometimes named after women? Answer: When they come they’re wild and wet, but when they go they take your house and car with them.1 point

Sorry, Manu. Realized it too late---Didn't go to original comment Davejb made. Like the DI's solution. My DI had me do cadence in Mickey Mouse's voice until other recruits got it right! Guess they got tired of my falsetto! Steve1 point

I believe that was for the factory worker's or cobbler's benefit while putting them together. The right and left heel irons look very much alike, but aren't.1 point

Most low quarter boots, anyway, were worn to nubs after the war. If ya' got 'em wear 'em! I remember a guy telling me about his father converting his panzer wrap into a suit coat after the war. It appears easier to find the riding, and standard marching boots. Those probably were not worn that much after the war in urban settings.1 point

Very EXTRA Special" ! I'm 101% into WH and LW stuff and so do the vast majority of members here and on other fora (sorry guys but being "forum" a latin word I use the right plural even if it's been anglicized! ) but that doesn't mean that other Axis or Allied uniforms would be less appreciated,in fact it's good to collect German/Italian/Japanese/French/Commomwealth/US uniforms and stuff but it's even nicer to see what the others used when fighting against your favourite "team"! Me,I LOVE WW2 Commonwealth uniforms (Mainly Canadian ones, of course ) and I particularly like @Mark K 's collection of lids! That said I've got a few radios, telephones etc but, truth be told, photographing them in detail and see no interest whatsoever would be sorta frustrating, even if we're here to share and NOT to show off!I've posted 49 threads on items from my collection so far and I'll post more but it's sad to see that the ones really interested in the stuff are the "usual suspects",and that goes for EVERY facet of the hobby here;a part a couple of very popular items, the rest gets a few replies if any at all! Cheers Manu1 point

Ooooooops, just visited the site and seen that the owner had posted the explanation already!1 point

Nice and rare item BUT...it's not ONLY "Tropical",in fact "Ark" stand for "Arktisch" and was found on the recuperator housing of the guns when filled with "Braun Oel fur Arktisch",hence the stencilling "Braun Ark" often seen on many guns! This cape would work in Bengazi but it would work on the Ebrus too! Nice, rare piece piece indded! Cheers Manu1 point

It was cancelled because John and Jane Q. Public are morons. They would rather watch some stupid arsed show about midgets arguing over who slept with who's husband, boyfriend, or whatever.1 point

Hi @Norrie, Spot on mate +1 England and Germany both used a shiny/ satin finish in the 1930's on combat helmets, but by 1940 both sides had changed back to a non reflective factory finish paint. D1 point

Thanks for that....sound advice.I wont go rushing in. I think I'll maybe post some pics when I narrow down what I'm looking for. I don't have any in my collection. May plump for an original SA and copy SS, given the considerable difference in price....1 point

Hi @Manu Della Valle & @ahrtal, I do happen to know where there's an original "Bata" 1941 made second pattern pair of ankle boots. D1 point

One thought is about document translations. I'd be willing to pay a small fee to get german documents translated and i know another member has posted a request for the same type of thing. maybe we can attract some non-UK users to help with this? Just a thought...1 point

That was sometime in February, 1970. Tay Ninh area. That lid stayed there when I left, but this one in my collection is the one I wore when I was with 10th SFG in Germany and Massachusetts.1 point

There you go @Beldar http://www.militariacollectors.network/forums/forum/101-electrical-electronic-warfare/ Oh, and as @Bil4338 says, it's not a TR forum. The thing is, the majority of collectors collect TR, so it tends to be talked about a lot. It's easy to solve that, other members need to post about non-TR topics.1 point
