  1. I’m a collector of all steel British military issue clasp knives. 1944- onwards and would be keen to hear from anyone who may have any to sell. I’m particularly interested in the 1944-1945 issue ‘Burmas’. Thanks.

  2. LET US REMEMBER THE OLD DAYS OF OUR FAMILIES! Just to mention that when my Mum ( Anne Robertson Strachan) was a young girl in Wishaw (Scotland) she and the neighbours in the street used to go everyday carrying metal buckets along the railway lines to pick up pieces of coal that they threw out, as my Mum told me 20 or 30 women would join in with their sons and daughters to scour the tracks for anything like coal......Many of you probably remember your Dear family doing this as in the 20's and 30's even in the 40's....to take buckets of coal back home to light the fire in the kitchen and boil water (many Times in a kettle) so that when Dad came home from work he could have a hottish bath, which was a tin bath in front of the fire, then the Mum would go next (Yes in the same water) then the children from the oldest to the youngest......Unbelievable when we think of what we have today. And to mention my Mum's Aunt Jemima had 16 children......How this Dear women coped with the ....feeding, washing, paying the rent etc and feeding them...I myself when my Mum who is over 100 years old today and still going lived told me, It seems impossible to understand let alone believe but it was True as all over the UK had all the same suffering and work to do, for the love of their families. Thank us ALL we do not have to go through this life again....How Very Fortunate and Very, Very Lucky ......We All Are Today, Let us all realise what they suffered and endured with no help from the government......Survival, they certainly should be remembered! Desert Rat........SCOTLAND THE BRAVE.....!!! But please remember that all of the British people were suffering especially in the North of England, that had to endure the same hardships across the country.

  3. Hello to everybody on here 🙂 My name is Didier and I am a 59-year-old Frenchman living pretty close to the German border (nearest city: Saarbrücken). As both my parents and their respective families lived in Normandy at the time of the D-Day landings and of the Battle of Normandy, I am mostly interested in 1944 Normandy operations and, accordingly, I collect WW2 British and Canadian uniforms. Looking forward to interacting with you all! Didier

  4. I have a very simple question about those postwar goggles, the kind that can be found from almost any dealer. The bands almost always seem too short to attach to anything like a large cap, let alone a helmet. I know they aren't elastic, but is there any way to stretch them without damaging anything?

  5. They aren't always post war. they did continue with them after the war but in plastic packets. They are dust goggles not to be worn over the head gear but close to the face? They are elasticated at where they join the lens but they are mostly always perished. If you are looking to alter them for display, like you say, there are enough of them about that it wouldn't break the bank, perhaps extend and swap out the elastic bits? Best Rich

  6. Hello Mate, not much going on except a spammer. most people are on FB but it is so full of idiots in general, I quit it, I am ex UK military settled in Germany, Bergen by Belsen. I collect German WW2 or anything that is military and interesting. We have a spammer at the moment, I hope Lenny might visit his site but it appears more or less abandoned. I use it it to store finds sequencialy but I am way behind in terms of posting. Don't see much point. I have asked to have edditing rights to deal with the spam, still no reply. Might be some stuff of interest to you archive wise? Enjoy. Best Rich

  7. I'm answering the question very late, but yes, really. Partly with the stretcher but partly by pulling out everything but that very sloid part of the liner. Now it's pretty much like a 61.

  11. Newly arrived and starting to put up posts etc. Started off with a donation using the link in the string. I am pretty useless with all things relating to I.T. but I am regarded as being quite creative. If that is any good to you in terms of a skill then use and abuse me. Ben

  12. I also miss the forums. There used to be TONS! Life is busy between my day job and music gigs at night - but I have started checking in when I can. I'm still here gentlemen - and I'm happy to spead the MCN work to get more 'recruits' on board. Cheers! Rob
