Satan1800 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) This shell lay in my mates garden as far as he knows for ever,so one day I get a call to come get this thing out of my garden . It was never a question of whether it's live or not as it had the provision for a base fuze in the rear and that was missing so just a huge lump of steel. With a suitable trolley and a smile of it went and after inspection of the drive bands there was a stamp date of 1912. It took a year to locate the correct case which is an RL made one dated 1899,so good enough for me. During the first world war ,the area was occupied by the Royal artillery so a good possibility it originated from there days there Edited February 17, 2016 by Satan1800 Spelling
