1942 C.L./C. Brush Over Painted In Desert Tan

 I have myself always considered a camo as any purposeful attempt to change any helmet body to blend in with and or adopt to a different environment weather it is one and or multiple colours that have been adopted such as this 1942 dated C.L./C. that has been field overpainted in a desert tan notice the wide brush strokes one of my favourite Mk II's as this colour is very rarely encountered on Canadian produced and or issued helmets very probably used in the Italian Theatre of Operations .

I also love to think that this Canadian helmet is a vet of the Italian Campaign!I can imagine it worn in the narrow street of Ortona!

Yes as can I these helms would have been painted in the field and a coat of paint would have been applied to match the theatre of operations that they were engaged in ..Speaking of Ortona here are a couple of images of those narrow cobble stone streets and the Canuck's fighting door to door...
