Marc hun Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 So I got this berthier bayonet about a month ago the first photos are after about 8 hours with wire wool and oil and I know the purists will be up in arms(pun intended) but I could not face to see it slowly rust away with the crap home made handles so I then went mad on it made my own home made handles and aged them then went to work on all the metalwork
Guest Fred Karno's Army Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 That's cracking mate,you wouldn't even think it's the same bayonet !.
Marc hun Posted May 7, 2016 Author Posted May 7, 2016 I am pleased with it here are a couple more of the transition photos
Major General Bil4338 Posted May 7, 2016 Major General Posted May 7, 2016 Excellent job! I don't mind a sympathetic refurbishment when the quality's as good as that! 1

Cheers mate I was pleased with it did a butcher bayonet too but did not take before photos and it was by far worse than the berthier bayonet and has turned out very nice. i am in the process of bring a 1896 MOD Mauser boer war rifle back from the edge of the rust heap I hope it goes as well as the bayonets have 1
