Mav352 Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Does anyone know what the current UK firearms ruling is for non deactivated ww1 German flare pistols? One of my brothers died a little while back and we found one in his collection today and I need to find out what to do with it. Thanks in advance.
Guest Fred Karno's Army Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 I personally know of a guy who got arrested by firearms with one where I am last year,he got off as he stated he didn't know it was a firearm etc,he wasn't a collector of militaria or weapons but approached a local auction house who phoned the police. It had been found in his fathers house during a clearance.Similiar story, that's all I can add mate sorry that's Lancashire.
Police Collector Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 You need a shotgun cert if I remember correctly. 1
Davejb Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 You need a full firearms cert, but as its a WW2 weapon the licence is free as you are a collector, and that is the reason you give as to why you need the cert. I think it comes under Signalling devices. I think there is an exemption for on board ships or sea going boats as its a requirement to carry one at sea by Maritime Law 3
Mav352 Posted May 10, 2016 Author Posted May 10, 2016 Thanks very much guys, I can now get that sorted.
