Hi all!

I looked for an M1 helmet to buy, and I found this on a website. Unfortunatelly, the seller dont have much information about that. I only have some pictures, and I know, that it has a rear seam.

I couldnt find out, why is "US" is painted on the helmet. Im afraid, that it can be an european copy of M1, and this sign was not originally painted on it.

I want to know which time that helmet could be used? Maybe Vietnam?

Thanks for all the answers.

Looks like a swivel bale rear seam so certainly post WW2 helmet.

Personally I'd look for a complete unquestionable example.

Yes as @Schwerpunkt stated, rear seem swivel. But the shape looks a little odd to me, it might just be a french M51

It's an M.51 OTAN as designated by the multiple cranial dents synonymous with these surplus lids.apparently it was the custom to smack your lid on the ground to commemorate the end of your military service in the French army!

Try finding one with no dents, a tall order...
