Unfortunately batteries are the thing that don't survive over a long time very well - they contain

either acid or alkaline - aggressive substances that destroy the battery housing. Exception are the

batteries that are in plastic housing. So even nice images of the original batteries are sometimes

very rare!

Here is seen radio battery 4,8NC10 is converted into the portable lamp, seems like a war time field modification.

However those images shows nicely the battery itself - 4 cells in series. Nickel-cadmium one cell is 1.2 volt, so

four of them in series makes exactly 4.8 volt. The battery chemistry type, it voltage and capacity is encoded into

battery type - 4,8NC10 means 4.8 volt, nickel-cadmium and 10 amp hour.

A very rare original 150 Volt anode battery.  This was used for earlier 1930s devices like the P57N.   In excellent condition.

Very nice 4,8NC10 been on sale at KPEMIG.

BTW, i have seen 4,8NC10 rewired in such a way that two cells groups are in parallel and then those parallel

group are in series - makes 2,4 volt, but 20 amp*h. Any guess why they rewired them? For Bodenständig

FeldFu's? Previous bunker dug out battery shows just such a configuration, as this radiomuseum.org

And here I found pictures of the 2,4NC58 battery. I have read about this battery, but until this evening I have never seen any pictures of it before.
