Fritze Knieriemen Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 (edited) Following an invite from my dear friend Stefan, I was able to setup a quite nice display supporting „Miljonenlijn Railway Station & Museum“ in Simpelveld (NL) for the 75 anniversary of liberation! Well - honestly there was much more interesting stuff then my radios... Crossing the Siegfried line with a steam train for example 😉✌🏼 Here a few pics: Edited August 6, 2019 by Fritze Knieriemen 1 1

Funksammler Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 They are a bit early to celebrate, they were only liberated on 14 September! 75 Years ago last week saw the launch of operation Cobra and the beginning of the final stages of the battle for Normandy... 1

True! But events during this late summer are piling up as you can imagine, so they’ve chosen a comfortable date earlier then the actual liberation.... 😊

Funksammler Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Nice display, indeed a lot of equipment to ferry around! I did an event last weekend where there was a steam train as well although I did not see it. Somebody was kind enough to bring a plane though, which was kind of cool! 1 1 1
Fritze Knieriemen Posted August 10, 2019 Author Posted August 10, 2019 Whow!!! So much stuff around.... unbelievable!
val Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 That plane seems to be a variant of the Fieseler Fi 156 Storch Morane-Saulnier MS-505 Criquet/Storch [F-BEJF] http://www.fieselerstorch.de/flugzeuge.htm

Fritze Knieriemen Posted August 11, 2019 Author Posted August 11, 2019 Next year event will take place again - most likely during WE 21.-23.Aug
Tony B. Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 I heard about this event, I actually grew up in Simpelveld and lived there for over 23 years. Very nice terrain for such an event. The railroad hasn't been used for decades except for the steamtrain for tourists, but back in the day this railroad was a direct connection to the German city Aachen. Meaby next year I will have a look too. 1 1
