Dfh.b with strange ear pads

Hello folks,

Got this classic Dfh.b , except for the ear pads. 
These are smaller, but still look period.
Any idea if this was a "normal" production, or a replacement ?

I guess they are from "Erdsprechgerät" headphones.

They look the same. I guess some previous owner made some swaps....
