Schwere Granatwerfer 34

Hi folks.
Here are some pictures of a 81mm S.Gr.W.34 that I have in my collection.
Pictures was taken outside on a sunny sunday in 2017.
I started to collect the parts and the acsessories in 2010 for this awesome weapon.
The Werferröhr (tube) and the Zweibein (bipod) has been restored with new paint.
All the parts, bupod, tube and groundplate are matching from the same maker and year of manufacture, 41 bdx (wich is a relatively rare makers mark to find on surviving examples today)

I have collected quite a bit of original Zubehör for the Granatwerfer as well.

Like the rare Ladevorrichtung - it's actually a remote trigger mechanism enabling the Granatwerfer being fired by the pull of a string attached.

Notice the nice equipment picture here, sporting the Klauenbeil with measuring tape and the bajonet on the guy to the right.

 

 

I have been very fortunent to be able to collect and put together this specific equipment - the Klauenbeil for my own collection. All parts has been found here in Norway, in the region around where I live.

The whole set, axe (with replaced handle), measuring tape-wehrmacht edition, and leather hanger.

 

 

Markings on the Axe head - H (Heer) 1940

 

 

Markings that I have found inside the leather harness for the axe.
Only a Waffenamt marking, and written in pencil III Tr. - Dritte Truppe.

 

 

 

 

And the measuring tape. 1942 dated and marked with Heereseigentum - wich translates to Army property.
A beautiful example, that has not seen much use and abuse.

I just came across a original picture showing the Ladevorrichtung with the remote-trigger-string attached.

 

 

As you can see on the previous picture, the guy in the middle is aiming trough the RA35, for lining up the mortar.
on the next picture here you can see what it looks like:

 

 

I have also been fortunant to find a very rare groundplate, a Dorn - or sometimes referred to as a ice spike. (althou, I personally do not belive that the Dorn is something that one can use on ice, due to the tremendous recoil from the mortar. I have read and heard from people that have actually fired a german mortar, that the recoil from the mortar, drive the ordinary ground plate deep in to the ground when the lifting charge goes off.

 

 

 

 

 

 

I have found only one reference picture of such a Dorn type groundplate in use. These men are gebirgsjäger, and they have placed the spike in a crevasse in the mountain itself.

Bjorn,

That is a nice toy to have, what are the laws like up in Norway?

I am thinking of getting rid of all of my stuff as I can see in the future it will be dificult to collect.

Things are getting more and more difficult here too. 

We are not allowed to privately own live mortars here in Norway. We cant have members of the public dropping bombs on each other, naturally 

The werferrohr or firing tube is deactivated. The lower section about 30cm or so is filled with concrete.

Yes, it's all up in the air here too. I wish they would target the actual criminals that use fully functional weapons instead of trying to criminalize people that have no inclination toward violence?
