British dress uniform???

I recently picked up a group of uniforms on auction, swiss, swedish, east german; but the uniform im posting about today I initially assumed was post war Czech, but after seeing it in person and doing 2 hours of research I came to the conclusion that it is British. As for era, branch and rank I have no clue, if one of you lads would be kind enough to help me identify it, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Perhaps a good close up the buttons would give a clue?

British rank pips are 4 pointed not 5 and I have no idea what is going on with the collar tabs.

Similar in style but not British, colonies perhaps? African?

What is on the reverse of the button, who made it?

Looks like a modern 'stay bright' button so from the mid 60s onward?

Then I would guess something from our one time 'empire' but odd that it has no crown, so perhaps a colony that had achieved independence?
