CAST ALUMINIUM SUBMARINE ON WOODEN BASE

Found this fella in a junk store... The seller said it may have been used on a large operations map, pushed around to illustrate location of enemy subs etc. There were two others for sale and originally 6 in the shop. They obviously have some age related wear... Size: L: 7 1/2" (sub only). Anyone seen the like before? Any help would be very gratefully received. Thanks

I have to admit that I have never seen these on any of the Op Maps, English or German, I m  thinking they maybe war time kids toys they are very crude in the way they are made, but to a kid they would have been a good toy to play with, but who nose

A nice item for a collection, haven't seen these before only when I was much younger you could buy plastic kits from the local toy shop and if I remember rightly...you could add bicarbonate of soda? to make them whizz around the bath.?

I dont think you could play with this in the bath, its all metal or lead
