Afrikakorpsrat64 Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 Hi all, I got this odd pin or badge recently with this Edelweiss patch. I have never seen this pin before. Its missing its pin, looks to be old. Any ideas? I love to add the odd or unusual to my small but growing GB insignia collection.
val Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 I have a hunch that this item has nothing to do with military. https://www.bagthejewels.co.uk/vintage-1940s1950s-souvenir-pin---hiking-hat-pick-with-gentian-and-edelweiss-flowers-746-p.asp 1

Davejb Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 (edited) I thing it might be a sweet heart pin Edited October 24, 2022 by Davejb 1
val Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 Another one, similarly "fuzzy". https://www.bonanza.com/items/like/404626642/Vintage-West-Germany-Trachten-Hat-Pin-Brooch-Shield-Edelweiss-Fringe @Afrikakorpsrat64 , do you see there any markings at all in the back? Maybe to check in good light and with magnifying glass? 1
Richard Auld Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 I think a civilian souvenir badge, these sort of thing are still common for visitors to the mountain regions, similar to the metal badges that are for walking sticks or canes. Best Rich 1
